Aditi from Orientation

  2. Help student, staff and faculty solve problems

    1. Completely confidential

    2. Informal

    3. Neutral

  3. Normally help students with serious issues, disputes with professors, etc, problems that have escalated in the residence halls

  4. Students are the least informed—how can they market their services?

  5. They do conflict resolution. Do work with students that may be employed off-campus, or live off-campus, maybe facing action. Provide legal information and advice. Try to help before it reaches the legal stage.

  6. Any advice on how to reach out to students?

    1. Use funny slogans

      1. Example: Got a PAULA? Need some advice?

    2. Put a flyer in all the rooms at move-in

    3. Come visit! They have free pencils

    4. Bulletin board materials to give tips to people

    5. Magnets on people’s doors

  7. Bring back to your hall association—let people know!

  8. It doesn’t have to be a big deal to come see them. The earlier the better so the conflict hasn’t escalated too rapidly.

  9. Visitors decide whether it will just be a conversation or if the visitor would like it to go beyond a conversation and help the student navigate the bureaucracy.

  10. It is low-risk to come see them. Contact them any way.

NIKKI:

  1. Working on forming Philanthropy committee

TIM:

JENNA:

1. Feedback on formatting minutes is welcome

3. Made posters for Dance Marathon/ARH-sponsored events

JULIA:

  1. Let her know about Halloween events

  2. Programming committee meetings

  3. Working on snowflake grams—write notes to your friends and mailed through campus mail. Potentially in conjunction with rice drive.

  4. Planning an event on November 16th


RYAN L:

  1. This weekend went to Pre-MACURH

  2. Cabinet meeting talked about redoing bylaws and Constitution

  3. Talked about what is going on in all halls

  4. Haunted tunnel—contact Burge President

  5. Improvements in halls


KYLE:

  1. Survey for half-light in Rienow and Stanley

  2. Postage stamp vending machine?

    1. In Burge, Mayflower, Parklawn and Hillcrest


MARK:

  1. MACURH regional conference on November 7th-9th

  2. Pre-MACURH was this weekend! At Kansas University; incredibly beneficial, came up with some ideas for the residence halls

  3. At MACURH, will attend board rooms: focusing on dedicated staff member of the year. Workshops with the 4 people on the delegation

  4. Delegation also involved in display contest

    1. 3D rendition of a successful event—Casino Night


EMILY:

  1. Fundraising committee meeting

  1. Finalized content and prices, and finished up mailers

  2. Mailers will be sent out on November 10th


BEN:

1. The numbers mean that there is money available! Ask the financial board for money.

2. They will help with paperwork, etc.

HAWQ:

  1. Ideas for a haunted house between Rienow and Quad fell through

    1. May have a mafia night

  2. Put on a formal in January for their hall

  3. Have a karaoke night in November


AD:

  1. November is busy! Many projects

  2. 13th is late-night event

  3. 14th is the freakin Friday—YouTube contest. Daum rec room

  4. Want to participate in the rice drive

  5. Volunteer project to knit for the premature babies at the hospital

  6. MLK Day discrimination awareness event

    1. Brown-Blue eyed movie with discussion circles


MAYCO:

  1. Wednesday is scary movie night 9:00pm

    1. Pizza and 3 winners giving away gift certificates

  2. MayCo Fo Sho” tshirts

  3. Had a successful Pumpkin carving event


BC:

  1. November 13th—East side Pre-Game Event at 9:00pm in Carnival room

  2. Dodgeball was successful


ROAR:

  1. Still doing a costume contest on Wednesday with prizes 9-11 in Quad Rec Room

  2. Selecting winner of tshirt contest at next meeting

  3. Helping out Beat Cancer booths

    1. Tons of colors! 5-7pm outside of Burge and Hillcrest

    2. Bracelets


HA:

  1. Hillcrest pumpkin carving contest

    1. Winners get prizes, also painting the baby pumpkins


USA:

  1. Meetings on Tuesdays at 8-9 in office

  2. House meetings on Thursdays at 7 every-other week

  3. RAs putting on Fall Fiesta on pm Thursday


ASAP:

  1. Bus rerouted to Parklawn?! Hopefully…

  2. Planning a no-shave November with $5 entry—money going to cancer research

COMMITTEE REPORTS:


Dining: (Tim)

- Last meeting was last Tuesday of September

- Meal plan to use for visiting people

- Maybe Sunday night meal?

- Survey about food services

- Nutritional information: mostly put together, but on the website by the end of the year

- Next meeting is this Tuesday at 7pm: anyone interested?

- E-mail Tim if interested


Recycling: (Kyle and now Jenna)

- Working on implementing a feasible recycling program—expanding Quad’s program

- No date for the first meeting yet

- Interested

-Whitney from MayCo and Jacqueline from BC

- An email will be sent out to everyone

- Open to ANYONE in Res Halls

Fundraising: (Emily)

- Not sure when next meeting will be—when information comes in for linens and microfridges


Financial Board: (Ben)

- Had meeting, and had one budget for SuperSmash Bros Tournament in November. All proceeds going to school of music flood relief fund. One day in Quad, one in Currier, one other day.


Programming: (Julia)

- Had another meeting at Airliner which was delicious

- Want to put on a study break in December—with help from Programmers, December 14th (Sunday before finals) with snacks, etc in all the halls


Guidebook: (Julia and Mark)

- Meeting directly after MACURH there will be a meeting

- Interested:
