Senate Meeting Minutes
The minutes for the ARH Senate meeting are below. This meeting happened on March 23, 2009 in the Iowa Room of the Iowa Memorial Union at 6:00pm. Plenty of information of what went on in our meeting can be found in the space below.

- Need to be present on at least 2 of 3 nights

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
DINING:
1. End of the year meeting coming up
2. Consultant to come plan 5-10 year plan
- Looking for students to talk to them
- Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 6:30 or 7:30
- Indicate Hillcrest or Burge
GUIDEBOOK:
1. Finished it up!
- Provided 4-5 pages of feedback
- Hopefully they will use the changes!
CABINET:
1. Did not meet over Spring Break
FINANCE UPDATES:
Budget (1):
1. Amanda from International Crossroads RA
- Gusto Latino event
- In IMU, last year had 500 people attend
- Salsa Dancing event and competition
- Interact with local Latino Community
- Refreshments are served
- 7-midnight; 9:00 competition, professionals
- Requesting ARH financial support
- Have requested from UISG, UICCU and Coca Cola funds
- Requesting $492
- Proceeds go to Engineers Without Borders who will be building schools in Honduras
- Funds will go to IMU box office, ballroom, local band, publicity (newspaper ads, flyer, facebook ad), copying, food (IMU catering), decorations, trophies
- Open to anyone at the University
- Still a good idea because it is for students

- Motion to fully approve the request, seconded. Moved to close discussion, seconded

OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Looking to change by laws for election process
- Letter of recommendation instead of signatures
- Everyone (Senators and Executives) can vote
- Election packets go out this week, due week of April 11th
- April 13th Senate Meeting: turn in packets
- Forum to ask us questions
- April 20th speech night and voting by secret ballot
- Move to pass the motion, seconded. Moved to close discussion, seconded.
- 13 out of 15 voted yes
- 2 abstain due to having left meeting early
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary)
- Represent top 1% of Res Hall leaders
- Of the Months to nominate people
- Working to get it reactivated
- Nichole will be NRHH Representative at NACURH
- Rewrite Constitution
- Need to find an NRHH board soon
- Working with ISU to work on membership
2. Ryan McFadden
- Next two months will go by very fast
